Minnikin & Under the Gun
Tuesday, 22 June 2010 10:51

Hallo once again all,

I’ll keep this quick -

Just a quick note to say a massive thanks to everyone who came to see Under the Gun and Minnikin on Saturday at Nikh's late bar in Blyth. I speak for all members of both bands when I say we had a fantastic night, two great sets from two great bands, both well received and enjoyed, snapped to bits, and lapped up by everyone.

We appreciate the world cup is on, people are busy, and there were a lot of other gigs taking place around the place on Saturday, and it would have been very easy for a lot of you to turn out to a nice familiar gig from one of the region's many other recognised bands who would doubtless have been playing somewhere not to far away – but you didn’t, you came to see us, and to hear a night of almost entirely original new music. That may not sound like much, but to the gents and myself, it speaks volumes, and stands as a reminder that there are plenty people out there ready to have a break from the familiar, and to get into new bands, new music and new sounds. This is exactly what we and no doubt many other young groups are looking for, and Saturday was in my humble opinion, only the beginning.

For myself, the event could not have been better suited. Brilliant company, brilliant turnout, brilliant music played brilliantly and a brilliant crowd to cheer us along and give us the support that bands like ours so badly need in this day and age and in this region.

On behalf of Minnikin, I’d like to say a huge thanks to our friends from Under the Gun, and we look forward to a long and happy working relationship, starting in the near future at the Castle Inn, Claypath, Durham City on Saturday August 28th (Bank Holiday Weekend).

There are more dates to advertise, but I shall not bore you all with them until nearer the time. We two bands as an act will be looking to book into some venues not only nationwide, but in the Northeast as well - so please get in touch if you would like to have this collaboration play at your venue! As Rob Jacobs put it, great venues deserve great bands and great events – and there are some great venues up here. ‘Nuff said!

We look forward to seeing you soon at our upcoming gigs, and we promise you will not be disappointed.
Stay tuned for Minnikin and Under the Gun – The best is yet to come!

On behalf of the gents and I,

Many Thanks.

BM.
